Your 2026 Benchmarks.
Another year.. and that means endless opportunities for us to ELEVATE!
As we settle into term 1 and yes.. work towards establishing our routine to get the year started - we are all set to launch into our first BENCHMARKS week for 2026 and pumped to see where we’re at to start the year. For years, everything we did was about the feeling of it and whilst that’s still a major focus of ours - our numbers matter too!
If you haven’t played with us before or missed our BENCHMARKS WEEKS last year, here’s everything you need to know.
Benchmarks week is also known as “The Physical Without A Glove”.
We dive head first into a series of anthropometry, strength & cardio tests to see where we’re at.
It’s kind of our version of going to the GP for the health screening but focused on your physical qualities.. and it’s certainly more fun (well, we think so).
It’s such an important part of our group program because at the core of what we do.. we aim for better.
We shoot for..
Better strength to improve our structures to support our activities, hobbies and lifestyles.
Better movement capacity so we don’t get drained by endless stiffness and pain.
Better cardio to have better energy to simply keep going.
Better space & mobility to maintain a sense of freedom within our movements.
But even more importantly, it’s the..
Better energy, mood, vitality, lens, connections, health.
And of course..
A better sense of self.
Sometimes, people misunderstand fitness tests as they treat it like their year 12 exams.
When your body is the vehicle to carry you through life, we think it’s pretty bloody important you not only pay attention to the way it works..
You do something about it.
The BENCHMARKS are there for you to simply find out where you’re at.
The real question is where are you heading next and what are you going to do to get there?
The Benchmarks week is our quarterly physical check up.
It’s also known as “The Physical Without A Glove” and a staple in our training experience at Northside Movement
For the OG’s that know what this is all about however in 2026 - we’ve tweaked a couple of things.
Our BENCHMARKS are focused around 3 primary categories - Performance, Longevity & Health. We lift weights, we test out our energy systems and we can also check to see how things are shaping up internally by recording our blood pressure, body fat + muscle mass.
The new additions to our BENCHMARKS WEEK are:
Standing Broad Jump - An excellent test for explosive power which is the first thing we lose as we age (yep - all of us!)
Wingate Test - 30 seconds all out bike sprint for assessing both Anaerobic Capacity + Power.
Running - We’ve added a 100m + 1000m effort to the week to get a better gauge on your speed + anaerobic capacity.
Grip - Now completed in addition to the pull ups for all participants as a primary and important marker of upper body strength + strong associations with healthy ageing
Anthropometry - We have now added Body Composition Analysis (Body Fat, Muscle Mass + Visceral Fat) as an option. See below for details.
To tick off your Benchmarks, like any other week, we simply recommend turning up multiple times to the studio #volumematters
As for recording your BENCHMARKS - we’ll be getting them to update all of your relevant weights/times/numbers onto the Momence App via the Workouts Tab. We’ll then be giving you your report card shortly after Benchmarks week for safe keeping at home!
If you can’t make it in multiple times to the studio, we recommend ticking off as many BENCHMARKS as you can (and that are relevant to you) so you can log your 2026 starting numbers for the 2026 training season.
If you’re not currently training with us at the studio and you’re looking for a firm but loving kick in the butt in the right direction, we’d love to chat. You can either grab a 14 or 28 day intro pass at the button below or reach us on info@northsidemovement.com.au :)
ANTHROPOMETRY.
This year we’ll be bringing in the team from Elite Body Analysis to and their fancy, commercial grade body scanner to give you an accurate reference of your body fat, muscle mass + visceral fat.
In addition to completing the scan - we’ll also be taking your Waist + Hip measurements (and obtaining your waist/hip ratio) which are strongly associated with health status - along with your blood pressure.
The body scan is conducted by a separate company and will provide a report given you all of the important information.
The cost of each scan is normally $33 - but we’ll be subsidising 50% as we think this is really valuable information for you to better understand more about what’s happening internally. The cost to you for the scan will be $16.50 and payable upon booking.
Availability
The scans will be conducted on Friday 6th February and we’ve just added two slots at:
To book, either click the time above to be taken to the booking page or book through via the Momence App.
