THE EUREKA STAIRS CHALLENGE (in Fairfield).
The Northside Crew Takes on the Chandler Highway Stairs.. 20 times!
We love a little sweaty challenge that gives us all of that can-do mojo that’s flowing after completing something that momentarily tested us.. and this particular challenge did exactly that.
With the 24BY6 Challenge currently running in the studio and our never ending desire to explore.. The Chandler Highway Stairs quickly became the arena for our last event for May!
After ducking down there to do a quick step count the day before.. we found 84 steps (when you take a left at the T-intersection half way up). Quick math told us that 20 repeats would take us very damn close to 1,700 stairs (the equivalent of both the Eureka and the Australia 108 buildings).. so the challenge was set.
With a handful of willing Northsiders, 2 “veteran” trainers and an almost 5 year old ready to rumble.. we kicked things off at 8am.. Garmin’s loaded and ready to record the work.
Given it was 5 degrees and officially bloody cold on the internal thermostat.. layers were quickly removed as we settled into rhythm. 1 Stepping.. Double Stepping.. Even bum shuffling techniques were used to get the job done and that we all did.
With no official time limit and the idea of winning coming with simply participating and trying to get it done.. everyone walked away a champion.
There’s something to be said about these activities that leave you breathless and the feeling of accomplishment that comes at the end.
Is it the state of flow?
Is it the internal feedback saying I DID IT?
Is it that the mix of Endorphins, Serotonin and Dopamine?
Whatever it is.. this kind of stuff feels freaking awesome, is good for ANY human and we’re on a mission to get more people inspired through movement..
1 step at a time.
