The Unknown

The Unknown is our annual in-studio challenge/event inspired by the Barkley Marathon and designed to help you learn to play in the dark.

Friday 29th August @ 6:30pm - 8:00pm

THE UNKNOWN.

Years ago, we watched a documentary called “The Race That Eats Its Young” — a short film about the infamous Barkley Marathon.

It’s a 100-mile ultra-endurance event with a secretive registration process, an unpredictable start time, and a finishers list you could count on your fingers (20 people since 1986). It’s quirky, brutal, and ridiculously hard. But… this isn’t about the Barkley.

A couple of years ago, we ran our very first in-studio UNKNOWN.

It’s not an easy sell — convincing people to join an event where they have no idea what’s coming — but over 20 brave souls showed up, embraced the chaos, and survived. For those that came, you know. For those that didn’t… let’s just say there were envelopes, some unforgettable music choices and buckets of icy cold water.

Last year, we flipped the theme: two decks of cards, countless mini-challenges, and moments where the group had to pull together to conquer the next curveball.

Now, we’re going again.

🗓 Friday 29th August, 6:30–8:00pm
🍕 Pizza served at 8:01pm for all willing participants (because priorities).

Without giving too much away…
-> Between 6:30pm and 8:00pm, we’ll be aiming to symbolically “climb” the 14 highest mountain peaks in the world.
-> The more people we have, the faster we climb.
-> We’ll mostly be using the ERGs (Bike, Ski, Rower), and yes — this one’s low-impact. No running. No excuses.

Why step into the UNKNOWN?
Because nothing builds confidence, resilience, and that “I can handle anything” mindset like saying yes when you don’t know what’s ahead.

Show up.
Join the crew.
Climb some mountains.

FREE for Northside Members.
$38 for Casual Participants!
